Pride month is a celebration of the self-affirmation, dignity, equality, and increased visibility and acceptance of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender people. At CCCU, several of our branches celebrated Pride month, by visibly demonstrating their support and solidarity among their employees, families, members, and the communities they serve:
The Encinitas branch celebrates the LGBTQ+ community year round. To demonstrate their love and support during Pride month, they decorated the office with Pride flags, rainbow décor, inspirational quotes, and wore pride attire. They created a Pride bag of merchandise from companies that support the LBGTQ+ community and raffled it off at a business mixer. The Encinitas staff is proud to be part of this community and will continue to support positive change and acceptance.
The Hillcrest branch decorated the office with rainbows and bright colors to celebrate Pride month. They hosted a table outside of the branch on July 17th, giving out freebies to celebrate Pride weekend. The community is proud to bank with Cal Coast because of their support for the LGBTQ+ community!
The SDSU Campus branch was thrilled to be a part of such an inclusive atmosphere at San Diego State University. They have a wonderful relationship with the SDSU Pride Center, and have partnered/sponsored several of their events. They believe in and support the Pride Center's mission in offering a safe, and affirming gathering space and campus environment. For Pride month, they created colorful goodie bags to give away and decorated their table to show their Pride and support to all students, faculty and staff.
The Claremont branch was very excited to celebrate Pride Month. The branch purchased “LOVE IS LOVE” pins which were worn proudly next to their Cal Coast name tags. The pins were very well received by the members, and have been requested by other branches and departments. As well, everyone was given a bright rainbow-colored key wristband.
The Chula Vista branch loves to support the community, and what better way than taking pride during Pride month. The branch thought it would be fun if each of the staff wore a solid colored shirt depicting one band from a rainbow.
Thank you to the branches who actively participated in the celebration of Pride month. Your heartfelt actions are truly inspiring! We look forward to continuing our support of the annual San Diego Pride Parade (the largest single-day civic event in the region, attracting 250,000 people) in 2022.
